Certainly not the type of blog post you might expect on a website geared towards future lawyers. Random acts of kindness? Is that a typo? Are you kidding me?
Well that's how the memory of Eric Pinsky, a 23-year old 1L at Duke Law when he was killed in a car accident 1997, lives on. In an effort to turn their tragic loss into something positive, for the past 13 years Eric's family has asked friends and strangers to commit "random acts of kindness" on the anniversary of his death (January 8th), and then share their experiences on Eric's webpage: www.eric-pinsky.com (visit the guestbook). You can read the full article here.
No good deed is too small to qualify. Pay the toll for the car behind you on the morning commute. Buy the guy behind you at Starbucks a cup of coffee. Maybe buy lunch for someone who may look like their having a hard time making ends meet. Just make it random and -- for that one moment -- remember Eric who, like many of you, was just starting out in his quest to become a lawyer. Do you feel up to the challenge?
