13th Installment Of Our 224 Series, Better Know A Dean

Today we posted a brand new interview with Sarah Zearfoss, Assistant Dean and Director of Admissions at The University of Michigan School of Law -- The Fightin' Wolverines!

Dean Zearfoss has been working in UMich's Admissions Office since 2001, so she's definitely seen it all!  You'll want to check out this interview and see what she has to say about:

- UMich's Student Body: "I feel particularly strongly that one of the things that distinguishes Michigan from its peer schools is the personality of our students. Ours is a very collegial student body and part of that stems from the fact that we’re in a smaller city and most of the people who move here tend to make their lives and focus of their energy about the law school. So, I think it’s really important that there not be a high 'jackass' quotient here."

- USNEWS Rankings: "With regards to the Top 20 or so law schools, I think that the rankings are basically right – they are generally in sync with my intuitions. [Laughing] Of course, I may be biased – I generally think that Michigan Law should be ranked #1 and there should be a vast gulf before you get to number #2!"

- The legal job market: "I suspect that there are still some folks who are just in denial about how competitive this job market is. I know that career services is working really hard to try and pull these students out of denial and trying to get them to focus their job search away from the big law job they thought they would have had when they graduated, perhaps towards a smaller, more regional legal market."
