Faculty

NUSL faculty practice what they teach. In addition to being exceptional scholars and researchers, they are authors of trailblazing casebooks and widely read articles in the most prestigious journals. Our faculty includes active litigators, committed advocates, respected consultants and influential policy shapers. Law isn’t simply a subject to them; it’s a tool that they sharpen and wield with authority.

As busy as they are, our faculty members — including distinguished adjunct and visiting faculty, specialists, lecturers and program managers — are available, accessible and eager to offer advice and assistance. They are passionate about teaching and take great pride in inspiring the next generation of professionals who will make their mark on the world.

Student Life

Law schools have a reputation for being environments of ruthless competition. Not Northeastern. We cultivate a collegial and supportive atmosphere that begins in the classroom and extends throughout campus. Students regard one another as peers rather than rivals — teaming up for projects and study sessions, collaborating as members of student groups and forging professional and personal bonds that endure long after graduation.

No matter how challenging the subject matter, students learn best (and retain their love of learning) when taught in a supportive environment that emphasizes collaboration. Academics at Northeastern are characterized by team-based projects and vigorous intellectual exchange. In addition, our students receive detailed written evaluations from their professors and co-op employers rather than letter grades. Through co-ops, clinics, mock trial competitions, fellowships and more, our students are able to distinguish themselves and push themselves to meet the demands of a rigorous legal education without having to race other students to the top.

As part of the broader Northeastern University community, our students enjoy access to extensive facilities and resources that range from state-of-the-art fitness centers to a library collection of nearly one million volumes. And thanks to our location in the heart of Boston, students are within walking distance of some the city’s most vibrant neighborhoods and exciting cultural and entertainment attractions.

In addition, more than two dozen law student organizations are involved in a wide range of activities, from community service to networking to just having fun together. These include, among other, the Black Law Students Association, the Health Law Society, the International Law Society, the Intellectual Property Society, the Latin American Law Students Association, the Queer Caucus and the Student Bar Association.
