The admissions committee starts reviewing applications in mid-November on a rolling basis as applications become complete. Therese Lambert, UMiami’s Director of Student Recruiting, advises students to complete their applications by January 4 (or earlier) to be in the strongest position for both admission and scholarship consideration. Applications received after February 1st will continue to be accepted and reviewed on a space available basis until the end of July.
To be considered for admission, you must earn a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university prior to enrolling at the School of Law. The Law School admits first-year students to begin in the fall semester and offers a full-time program only. In evaluating an applicant’s file, UMiami, like most schools, will carefully review your undergraduate record and Law School Admissions Test (LSAT) score(s). However, they also give careful consideration to your personal information, such as obstacles an applicant had to overcome, graduate studies, job history, and significant extracurricular and community activities. Special care is taken in the review process to ensure that the entering class is a highly talented and select group, representing a wide variety of cultural, racial, ethnic, and geographic backgrounds. The University of Miami takes great pride in the diversity of its students and faculty, viewing these differences as a major strength. Students are admitted to the School of Law from almost every academic discipline.
